In 1819 he began a tour of the Continent, visiting Italy , Greece and Asia Minor . The journey was precisely recorded in a work filled with descriptions of works of architecture and entitled A Collection of the Most Approved Examples of Doorways from Ancient Buildings in Greece and Italy . Returning to Great Britain , he won the competition for the design of Holy Trinity Church in the London borough of South Kensington . He followed the style of Victorian architecture faithfully, collaborating on the realization of structures for the Great Exhibition of 1851.
